At Älmhults Katthotell, your cat's safety and comfort are our top priorities. We've invested in creating secure and stimulating environments for all our feline guests, including robust indoor enclosures and recently reinforced outdoor areas. Our outdoor spaces now feature durable compost fencing, adding an extra layer of protection to prevent escapes.

We understand that cats are incredibly clever, resourceful, and sometimes unpredictable. Despite our best efforts and the high security measures we implement, it's important to acknowledge that no enclosure can ever offer a 100% guarantee against a determined or particularly ingenious escape artist.

What Happens if a Cat Escapes?

While we do everything in our power to prevent such incidents, in the unlikely event that a cat manages to escape our premises, we will immediately initiate our comprehensive recovery protocol:

Immediate Notification: We will contact you, the owner, immediately using the emergency contact details provided in your booking agreement.
Active Search & Trapping: We will immediately begin an active search of the premises and surrounding areas. We will set out humane cat traps near the hotel, which will remain active for the remainder of your cat's scheduled stay, or for up to three days following the escape if it occurs near the end of their booking.
Nature Camera Monitoring: We will deploy nature cameras in strategic locations around the hotel to help identify potential sightings. Owners are welcome to schedule a visit to the hotel to review camera footage with our staff.

How Owners Can Help in a Search:

Your local knowledge and involvement can be invaluable in a search. If your cat escapes, we recommend the following actions:

On-Site Search: You are welcome to visit and participate in the search of our property, provided you give us advance notice to coordinate.
Professional Assistance: Consider contacting an ID dog (Idhund.se). These trained dogs specialize in tracking lost pets and can significantly increase the chances of a successful recovery.
Community Awareness: Posting information about your missing cat on local Facebook groups (e.g., local community groups in Älmhult and surrounding areas) can alert neighbors and increase vigilance in the area, especially if you believe your cat might attempt to travel towards your home.
